Hellebore is such a special plant. For me personally, hellebore was the plant that brought me the world of poisonous plants. Hellebore, often called Lenten Rose or Christmas Rose, blooms in the winter or early spring - sometimes when there is still snow on the ground! I once even had a hellebore have a fence fall onto it during a winter storm. That fence could not be lifted for many weeks. I thought my hellebore was a goner for sure. But to my surprise, when that fence was finally lifted, not only had the hellebore survived, but it had flowered. Sure, it was a little leggy, but it flowered!

When you think of a plant like hellebore that flowers in circumstances that would be difficult or impossible for most other plants, what words come to mind? For me, the big one is resiliency. And this is one of the main qualities I think about when I think of this essence.

I also find this essence helpful for when you want to work with fears and anxieties, especially those around death - either physical death or different personality aspects. This essence aids in letting go of that which is no longer serving you. Hellebore does this in a way that is both clear and sharp, while still seeing the playful existent in all experience.
